REVIEW OF THE FILM MANHOLE BY VIDHU VINCENT

                                      
The Film Manhole is directed by Vidhu Vincent. She is a visual media journalist. She always took pains to follow serious topics with social relevance. When she turned to film making she could not think of any other genre.

The 90 minutes film is made on a shoestring budget write her further MP Vincent and Brother Jose Vincent. Chipping in a producer along with some of her friends
The movie tells about the story of manhole workers. The main characters of this film are Ayyan.  It is a manhole workers his wife papathi and his only daughter named Shalini.

When we used dry toilets people came from part of Travancore which is now in Tamil Nadu for clearing. Thought they belonged to the Aruthathiyar caste. They came to he called the chakiliyar community in this part of the country Even after we started using wet toilets. They have been absorbed into the municipality as contingency workers but they are doing the same job.
Vidhu said that "manhole is on the attitude of the people towards this community and the desire of younger generation for a life of dignity ".
Manhole is the first Malayalam film by a female director  screened in the competition section of international film festival .
Journalist turned film director Vidhu Vincent bagged two awards for her debut movie manhole at the 23th international film festival of kerale (IFFK).
